Russell Adams, MD, chief medical officer of UnityPoint Health-Waterloo (Iowa), will retire April 6.
“Dr. Adams’ impact on the hospital and our organization has been immeasurable,” Carolyn Barko, interim president for UnityPoint Health-Waterloo, said in a March 23 Facebook post. “His professionalism and dignity have been staples over the last 44 years, and he will be missed.”
Dr. Adams started his career at UnityPoint’s Waterloo-based Allen Hospital in 1982, according to the post. Both his mother and aunt were head nurses at Allen Hospital.
Pradeep Ramesh, MD, will serve as the Waterloo market’s interim CMO. Dr. Ramesh has served as medical director of hospitalists at Allen Hospital since 2012 and serves as a member of the UnityPoint Health-Waterloo board of directors.
