Jacksonville, Fla.-based UF Health has selected Chris Kovacs as administrator of UF Health Durbin Park Hospital, which is scheduled to open in St. Johns, Fla., in September.
Mr. Kovacs most recently served as COO of HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, according to a June 2 LinkedIn post from UF Health Jacksonville. In that role, he oversaw surgical services, cardiology services, laboratory, radiology, security, emergency management, environmental services and plant operations.
He also led project management and implementation efforts, including construction, service line expansion and programmatic development.
At HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, Mr. Kovacs helped increase surgical volume and heart and vascular volume by 8%. He also worked on physician engagement initiatives, improved surgical on-time starts, reduced operating room turnaround times and increased inbound patient transfers.
Before joining HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, Mr. Kovacs served as COO and ethics and compliance officer of Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, Ga., a 231-bed facility. He also served as vice president of operations there and oversaw multiple clinical and operational departments.
