UCSF, John Muir name CEO of joint venture: 3 things to know

UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco and Walnut Creek, Calif.-based John Muir Health have named Chris Willrich CEO of Bay Health, a new development company that is jointly owned and operated by UCSF and John Muir as part of the affiliation between the two organizations.

Here are three things to know about Mr. Willrich.

1. He starts in his new role Oct. 1.

2. As CEO, Mr. Willrich will lead Bay Health’s efforts to identify and execute on various development projects that support the Bay Area health care network, a separate joint venture formed by UCSF and John Muir Health earlier this year with support from other Bay Area providers. Bay Health’s activities will focus on supporting the success of the health network through the development of new tools "to improve coordination of care through integration and patient communication portals, development of outpatient facilities in select markets and joint service line development between UCSF and John Muir Health," the entities said in a news release.

3. Mr. Willrich most recently was Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health's regional vice president for strategy and system development in the West Bay.
