UChicago Medicine named Amir Ghaferi, MD, as the seven-hospital system’s inaugural executive vice president and chief clinical officer, according to a Sept. 16 news release.
Dr. Ghaferi, who is stepping into the new enterprisewide role Nov. 16, currently serves Froedtert Health as president and CEO of the physician enterprise and senior associate dean for clinical affairs at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Ghaferi joined Froedtert, a 10-hospital system, in December 2022 from Ann Arbor-based Michigan Medicine, where he served as chief clinical officer of the system’s medical group.
Trained in general surgery, Dr. Ghaferi’s research has examined safety culture and organizational resilience, and his clinical practice is focused on advanced laparoscopic surgery, the release said.
At UChicago Medicine, he will work to “foster collaboration among faculty and employed and community physicians to advance clinical innovation, ambulatory growth, value-based care and integrated models of care,” according to the release.
