Trinity Health Michigan has appointed Michelle Peña, MSN, RN, regional chief nursing officer.
She will step into the role Aug. 31 and will be responsible for all nursing operations, including workforce development, operational efficiency and clinical excellence, according to a news release. Ms. Peña will report to Trinity Health Michigan’s president and CEO Shannon Striebich and work closely with the chief clinical officer, Ceasar Gonzales II, MD, on efforts to advance patient care.
Ms. Peña has spent more than 20 years in healthcare leadership roles. Most recently, she was CNO of Trinity Health Grand Rapids. During her tenure there, she led clinical teams through the COVID-19 pandemic, oversaw the launch of a nurse residency program and the implementation of Trinity Health’s systemwide virtual nursing model in which a bedside nurse and nursing aide work in tandem with a virtual nurse.
Trinity Health Michigan includes eight hospitals and operates a network of outpatient services across the state. It is part of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health.
