Barclay Berdan, CEO of Arlington-based Texas Health Resources, will retire in September after four decades with the health system.

During his tenure, Mr. Berdan led significant transformation across the system’s clinical, digital and operational capabilities, according to a March 30 Texas Health news release.

He stepped into the role in 2014 after serving as senior executive vice president and COO. Since then, Mr. Berdan has led efforts to maintain financial strength and stability while investing in innovation and expanded care access.

The health system’s board named Winjie Tang Miao, senior executive vice president and COO, as president, effective April 5. The role was created to identify the executive who will assume the CEO position at a future date. She will continue reporting to Mr. Berdan until September, when she is set to take over as CEO, the release said.

Ms. Tang Miao has served as COO since 2022, leading operations across hospital, provider and ambulatory settings. She joined Texas Health Resources in 2000 and has held multiple senior leadership roles.

Laura Irvine was also named senior executive vice president and chief operating and growth officer. In the expanded role, she will focus on enterprise operations and support growth, including geographic expansion and virtual services.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
