Tenet hospital CEO retires; leadership shuffle ensues

Gary Honts, CEO of Indio, Calif.-based JFK Memorial Hospital, has retired, according to local news sources.

Mr. Honts served 10 years in the role, according to the Uken Report. He will continue in a consulting role through May 1 to ensure a smooth transition. 

Karen Faulis, MSN, CEO of Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree, Calif., will become the new CEO of JFK Memorial in addition to her current responsibilities. The dual role is effective Jan. 30, according to the Desert Sun. Both hospitals belong to Palm Springs, Calif.-based Desert Care Network, operated by Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare. 

JFK Memorial’s chief nursing officer, Heather Corte-Real, DNP, MSN, RN, has been promoted to chief nursing officer/chief operating officer as Ms. Faulis assumes leadership. Hi-Desert is searching for an assistant chief nursing officer, the Sun reported.
