Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital has appointed Jennifer Crabtree as president of the Tampa Medical & Research District, effective Oct. 1.
Ms. Crabtree was also named senior vice president of Tampa General. She most recently served as vice president of corporate communications and chief of staff for the system’s office of the president and CEO.
In her new role, Ms. Crabtree will oversee the strategic direction and continued development of the district, a growing hub for clinical care, academics, research and biotechnology. She will lead an advisory committee of public and private stakeholders focused on guiding the district’s expansion and will work closely with the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council to recruit health and science businesses.
The 1,500-acre district — a collaboration between Tampa General and the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine — is expected to generate more than $8.3 billion in annual economic impact and support nearly 58,000 jobs, according to an April 22 news release.
