He also spent four years as executive vice president and chief medical officer of Aetna.
Dr. Wertheim joined Stony Brook in 1996 and serves as vice dean for graduate academic affairs of Stony Brook’s Renaissance School of Medicine. He is also the Endowed Chair in Graduate Medical Education at the School of Medicine and president of Stony Brook Medicine Community Group.
An internal medicine physician, Dr. Wertheim has spent time as the internal medicine residency program director at Stony Brook and executive vice chair of the department of medicine and associate dean for clinical outreach.
