Potsdam, N.Y.-based St. Lawrence Health System announced that Sergio A. Garcia, vice president and administrative chief of staff, is departing, according to a Watertown Daily Times report.

1. Mr. Garcia is leaving to take on the role of vice president of operations and university chief of staff at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y., effective March 1, 2017.
2. In his current roles at St. Lawrence Health System, Mr. Garcia was responsible for day-to-day operations for Canton-Potsdam in Potsdam and Governeur (N.Y.) hospitals.
3. He is also a former U.S. diplomat, who completed a tour of duty as a senior adviser to the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.
4. He has previously served as chief of staff and vice president for diversity, equality and inclusion for the office of the president at Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown.
