SSM Health names Michael Richards system vice president

St. Louis-based SSM Health appointed Michael Richards to system vice president of government affairs and public policy, effective Oct. 1.

Mr. Richards previously served as executive director of government relations and external affairs for La Crosse, Wis.-based Gundersen Health System; director of government relations for Harley-Davidson Motor Co.; and policy advisor and chief of staff in the Wisconsin State Senate.

“Michael brings extensive government affairs experience and leadership to SSM Health,” said Doug Long, general counsel for SSM Health. “He’s a great addition to our organization and will play a key role in driving our public policy initiatives and helping ensure that SSM Health continues to deliver exceptional, compassionate care in the communities we serve.”
