Mr. Christian ran South Coast Medical Center from 2005-2009. He simultaneously served as the owner of Metro Republic Commercial Services, a consulting and medical debt collection firm in Corona, Calif., that provided at least $110,000 in services to South Coast while Mr. Christian was in charge.
South Coast disclosed the transaction as “self-dealing” in federal tax filings, which is allowed by board members of non-profit organizations under state law.
Mr. Christian now serves as CEO of the Loma Linda University Medical Center campus expected to open in 2011 in Murrieta, Calif.
