Mr. Wiles joined Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, which would later become Novant Health, in 1970 as a hospital administrative resident. He was later named hospital COO in 1979 and hospital CEO in 1984. Mr. Wiles was then appointed president and CEO of newly formed Novant Health in 1997, which came out of the merger of Carolina Medicorp in Winston-Salem and Presbyterian Health Services in Charlotte.
Carl Armato, Novant Health’s senior executive vice president and COO, will succeed Mr. Wiles next year.
