Rady Children's CFO dies in bicycling accident

Roger Roux, CFO of Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, died Sunday afternoon after he was struck by a car while riding a bike.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Roux.

1. Mr. Roux joined Rady Children's in April 2003 as senior vice president, CFO and treasurer. 

2. In a news release, Mr. Roux is described as an integral member of the hospital's senior leadership team that helped bring the organization to its strongest financial performance in its 60-year history.

3. Under Mr. Roux's leadership, Rady Children's investment portfolio experienced a seven-fold increase from 2003 to 2014.  In 2014, Rady Children's also achieved credit ratings of "AA-" with stable outlook and "A1" with positive outlook from Fitch Ratings and Moody's Investors Service respectively, marking the hospital's highest ranking to date from the credit rating agencies.

4. Prior to joining Rady Children's, Mr. Roux held financial leadership positions at children's hospitals in Boston, Chicago and Columbus, Ohio.

5. Mr. Roux received a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton business school in Philadelphia.
