Rosenda “Rosey” M. Barrera, MSN, RN, was appointed interim CEO of Prime Healthcare’s Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Ill., in addition to her role as chief nursing officer, according to a message to staff.
The message, dated April 28, was shared with Becker’s and came from Sunny Bhatia, MD, president and chief medical officer of Ontario, Calif.-based Prime.
Dr. Bhatia, who also serves as CEO of Prime Healthcare Region I and Region VII, said Ms. Barrera brings more than 25 years of clinical experience and 15 years of leadership experience to the interim position.
Previously, she served as vice president and chief nursing officer at Saint Francis Hospital when it was called Amita Health St. Francis Hospital.
She also worked at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Ill., where she oversaw surgical services, cath lab/IR, clinical care and telemetry services, according to Dr. Bhatia’s message.
Ms. Barrera’s new appointment to her expanded role follows Prime’s March acquisition of eight St. Louis-based Ascension hospitals in Illinois.
