Under Mr. Drew’s leadership, Athens General Hospital became ARMC in 1985 and later grew into Athens Regional Health Services in the mid-1990s. Mr. Drew helped transform the system from an 871-employee community hospital into a major regional medical center and the second largest employer in the region.
Mr. Drew has also led ARMC through six major expansions, including a recently completed emergency department, obstetric center and wound care center.
ARMC and ARHS boards will conduct a national search for Mr. Drew’s successor, to be named next summer.
