Mr. Thomas first worked at the hospital as a laboratory technician while in college in the mid-1960s and returned as a vice president.
He has supervised nearly every department and has overseen numerous building projects and service expansions, including an open-heart surgery program at the 188-bed hospital.
Executive Vice President Gary Weinstein will replace Mr. Thomas.
