Philadelphia FIGHT names COO for health centers: 4 things to know

Philadelphia FIGHT, a provider of primary care, consumer education, research and advocacy for people living with HIV/AIDS and those at high risk, has hired Barbara L. Bungy as the new COO of its community health centers.

Here are four things to know about Ms. Bungy.

1. She began her new role March 7.

2. In her new role, she will lead the clinical and administrative operations of FIGHT's Federal Qualified Healthcare Center, according to a news release.

3. Ms. Bungy has been a member of the FIGHT board of directors since 2012, most recently serving as board secretary.

3. Over the past eight years, she has been employed by Philadelphia-based Drexel University College of Medicine within the department of pediatrics at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in several management positions. These positions include:

executive director of the Center of the Urban Child, HIV prevention services program manager and director of grant funded programs within the Dorothy Mann Center for Pediatric & Adolescent HIV, a comprehensive primary and specialty HIV/AIDS care provider for HIV exposed newborns and HIV positive infants, children and adolescents as well as their affected families.

4. Ms. Bungy earned a master's degree in public health and a master's degree in business administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia.
