Pennsylvania hospital names COO, CNO

Lancaster (Pa.) Medical Center has appointed two leaders to permanent executive roles at the hospital, which is part of Hershey, Pa.-based Penn State Health.

Angela Sonon, DNP, CRNP, was appointed senior vice president and COO, and Valerie Ritter, MSN, RN, was appointed vice president and chief nursing officer, effective June 1, according to a health system news release. Both leaders had been serving in these C-suite roles on an interim basis.

Dr. Sonon joined Lancaster Medical Center in 2022, the same year the hospital opened, according to the release. She served as senior director of quality and medical affairs before assuming the interim COO role in October 2024. 

Ms. Ritter held various roles at West Reading, Pa.-based Tower Health before joining Lancaster Medical Center, according to the release. She assumed the interim CNO role at LMC in February.
