Hershey-based Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital named Robert Ricca, MD, surgeon-in-chief, effective Sept. 1.
In this role, Dr. Ricca will provide strategic leadership for pediatric surgical services across the hospital; advance patient care, quality, education, innovation and program growth; and serve on the hospital’s leadership team and hold the Chester Ray Trout Chair in Pediatric Surgery, according to an Aug. 27 system news release.
He most recently served as chief of pediatric surgery at Golisano Children’s Hospital and as a professor of surgery at Penn State College of Medicine.
Dr. Ricca succeeds Thomas Samson, MD, who has served as surgeon-in-chief since 2022.
