In August, Parkland Memorial came under fire for committing a string of patient safety violations, endangering its Medicare status. The hospital submitted a corrective action plan, which was accepted by CMS. However, state regulators found the hospital still in “immediate jeopardy” during a follow-up inspection. The hospital has since agreed to enter into a systems improvement agreement with CMS.
The hospital’s board of managers recently voted not to renew Parkland Memorial CEO Ron Anderson’s, MD, contract when it expires Dec. 31.
The three top candidates for the interim hospital CEO position include Otis L. Story, Sr., former CEO of Grady Health System in Atlanta; Thomas Royer, former CEO of Christus Health in Irving, Texas; and John A. Guest, president and CEO of Teaching Hospitals of Texas in Austin.
