Salem, Ore.-based Oregon State Hospital has named Amit Bhavan, MD, chief medical officer.
Dr. Bhavan has served as interim CMO since Aug. 1, 2025, overseeing efforts to improve accountability and maintain compliance with Joint Commission and CMS requirements, according to an April 6 news release.
In the role, he leads clinical operations and supports initiatives to strengthen patient safety and care quality across the psychiatric hospital.
Dr. Bhavan joined Oregon State Hospital in October 2020 as a unit psychiatrist and was named supervising psychiatrist in May 2023.
State leaders said the appointment supports efforts to improve clinical performance and oversight at the hospital.
