Here are four things to know:
1. Mr. Lumsden most recently served as president of South Boston, Va.-based Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital.
2. Prior to that, he was CEO of Halifax Regional Health System. He spearheaded the health system’s merger with Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Healthcare in 2013, after which he was named president.
3. He is a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives as well as a past board chairman of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association.
4. Mr. Lumsden is the permanent successor to Ned Hill, who left to serve as CEO of Mesa Regional Hospital in Mesquite, Nev.
