Mr. Jackiewicz will oversee the UCSD’s 440-bed hospital in Hillcrest, 108-bed hospital in La Jolla, Moores Cancer Center, Shiley Eye Center and the Sulpizio Family Cardiovascular Center, scheduled for completion in the spring of 2011, according to the report. He succeeds Richard Liekweg, who resigned in August to serve as president of Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Jackiewicz previously served as vice chancellor and CFO of UCSD Health Sciences.
In addition to the new cardiovascular center, UCSD Medical Center is planning on building a 99,000 square-foot telemedicine building, according to the report.
