The hospital confirmed Mr. Pierce’s resignation to Becker’s Feb. 15. No replacement has been selected to the spokesperson’s knowledge.

Two local news sources — Houston Herald and The Licking News — reported that Mr. Pierce submitted his resignation on Feb. 6, hours after the board voted to remove CEO Stace Holland.

Mr. Holland was the second consecutive CEO to exit the role after attempting to terminate Linda Pamperien, the hospital’s CFO.

“My resignation from the board is what I believe to be in the best interest of both the organization and myself,” Mr. Pierce said, according to the newspapers. “Over the past few months, I have found it increasingly challenging to fulfill the fiduciary responsibilities as a member of the board with the demands of my business and personal life.”

Mr. Pierce was elected to a five-year term in 2020, and he resigned with more than one year remaining in his tenure.

The county commission is responsible for appointing a replacement. Bill Bridges, Texas County Memorial Hospital’s interim CEO, said the hospital will work with commissioners to identify a replacement and ensure a seamless transition.
