The board for Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Mo., opted Oct. 12 to end the contract of CEO Lori Wightman, RN, effective Oct. 13.
The board appointed Mike Harvey interim CEO, according to an Oct. 13 hospital news release.
“Bothwell is a special place,” Ms. Wightman said in a statement shared with Becker’s Oct. 14. “I wish only the best for them during these turbulent times in rural healthcare.”
Ms. Wightman had served as CEO since 2019. During her tenure, she led the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic and worked on physician recruitment and rural healthcare advocacy. The board did not provide a reason for the decision.
“We are grateful for her years of service, her commitment to Bothwell, and the contributions she has made to our organization and community,” the board said in the release. “We sincerely thank Lori for her dedication and wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”
Mr. Harvey joined Bothwell in April as interim COO. He brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience, including 18 years as CEO of a rural hospital system in Nebraska.
Bothwell Regional Health Center includes a hospital, more than 20 outpatient clinics and 900 employees.
