Douglas Kreis has been appointed CEO of Thunder Bay Community Health, a federally qualified health center in Hillman, Mich.
Mr. Kreis will succeed current CEO Richard Bates, MD, who plans to retire in 2026, according to a health center news release shared with Becker’s on June 17.
Mr. Kreis has served as the organization’s CFO for the past three years and brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience. He began his career in radiation therapy and later held senior leadership roles, including system vice president of service lines at Midland-based MyMichigan Health, before joining TBCHS.
He will work with Dr. Bates over the coming months to support the leadership transition. Following the transition, Dr. Bates will continue serving TBCHS and the region in a part-time clinical role as an OB-GYN.
