Mercy taps market chief nursing officer

Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy has appointed Kara Rother, BSN, as chief nursing officer of its Oklahoma City market, effective July 21.

In her new role, Ms. Rother will oversee 1,700 nurses across Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City, its three critical access hospitals and all affiliated clinics in the region, a Mercy spokesperson told Becker’s 

Ms. Rother has 18 years of healthcare experience, beginning her career as a post-aneteshia care unit nurse. She most recently served as vice president and CNO of Oklahoma City-based Integris Health Southwest Medical Center, a role she has held since 2023. 

Mercy said Ms. Rother was the top candidate for the role from a national pool of applicants, according to a June 13 news release.
