Mercy hospital taps chief medical officer

Cape Girardeau, Mo.-based Mercy Hospital Southeast named Joseph Hayes, MD, chief medical officer.

He will focus on building a team of physicians and advanced practice providers committed to exceptional care, according to an April 1 news release from the Chesterfield, Mo.-based health system. He also serves as a population health expert on the committee that oversees healthcare quality measures for CMS.

Previously, he served as designated institution officer at SGMC Health in Valdosta, Ga.
