1. Dr. Thielen is chair of the Midwest Department of Radiology, created via the integration of Mayo Clinic and Rochester Radiology operations.
2. As leader, Dr. Thielen oversaw 260 physicians and physicists, 52 residents and 24 fellows.
3. A radiologist, he has served on the Mayo Clinic staff since 1996 and has served as chair of the division of neuroradiology in the radiology department.
4. He is also chair of the Enterprise Radiology Specialty Council, which oversees the integration of radiology practices across Mayo Clinic.
5. Dr. Thielen succeeds Gianrico Farrugia, MD, who will become president and CEO of Mayo Clinic Jan. 1, 2019.
