LSU Health Shreveport names Dr. David Guzick chancellor

LSU Health Shreveport (La.) has named David Guzick, MD, PhD, its next chancellor, effective Jan. 9.

Dr. Guzick is a clinician, medical scientist and health economist, according to a Jan. 4 news release from the university. He most recently served the University of Florida in Gainesville as senior vice president of health affairs and president of UF Health. Prior to his role in Florida, Dr. Guzick spent seven years as dean of the University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine and Dentistry. 

LSU Health Shreveport includes a medical school, graduate school, allied health professions school and six research centers, as well as an academic medical center in partnership with New Orleans-based Ochsner Health.
