Louisiana Health System Names New Head of Healthcare Services

Louisiana State University Health System in Baton Rouge, La., has named Roxane Townsend, MD, as head of its healthcare services division, which oversees seven state-run hospitals in southern Louisiana, according to a report by the Times-Picayune.

Dr. Townsend replaces Michael Butler, MD, who has headed the healthcare services division since 2007. Dr. Butler will remain with the hospital system and will oversee programs to manage services to patients with chronic diseases.

Dr. Townsend has served as interim CEO at Interim LSU Public Hospital in New Orleans since January. A new CEO for the hospital has not yet been named.
