Mr. Cooper, currently the longest presently-serving hospital CEO in Iowa, cited health-related reasons for his decision to leave his post after 19 years, according to the report. During his tenure, he helped MMSC make several improvements, including the opening of a cardiovascular catheterization lab, medical clinic and medical office building, and has helped MMSC earn recognition as one of the lowest cost healthcare providers in the state.
A search committee has been formed, and MMSC hopes to name a replacement before Jan. 1, according to the report.
