Lenox Hill became part of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System in May. Ms. George, who was recognized as one of the city’s 100 most influential women by Crain’s in 2007, led the hospital as it shunned mergers with NYU Langone Medical Center and Mount Sinai hospital before agreeing to become part of the North Shore-LIJ system.

North Shore-LIJ put long-term Lenox Hill administrator Philip Rosenthal in charge of daily operations following the merger. He currently serves as the hospital’s executive director.
