Kansas hospital taps COO, privacy officer

Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca, Kan., has named Curt Sudbeck as COO and Courtney Schmelzle as HIPAA privacy officer.

Mr. Sudbeck will take on additional administrative duties to support hospital operations and service line development in his new role, according to a Dec. 18 Facebook post from the hospital. The position was created to help manage growing service demand and project complexity.

Ms. Schmelzle will lead HIPAA compliance efforts, oversee staff education and manage patient data protection. She will continue her work with the Nemaha Valley Health Care Foundation and community outreach efforts.

The hospital said both appointments aim to strengthen operations as it expands services, partnerships and patient volume.
