The move comes as Mr. Bush, who has served as a director since 2007, explores a run in the 2016 presidential race. Mr. Bush has also begun unwinding ties to other financial firms, including the British bank Barclays, to avoid complicating a potential campaign, according to the report.
Tenet Healthcare noted Mr. Bush is “not resigning on account of any disagreement” with the company.
Tenet actively supported and promoted the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a law Mr. Bush vocally opposed, calling it “flawed to its core,” according to the report.
