Ms. Conroy will remain at the helm until Dec. 20, according to an internal email to hospital employees cited by the Washington Times Herald.
“She’s been here for seven years and she has poured her heart and soul into our organization and been through a lot, everything from COVID to floods to cyber incidents,” Deron Steiner, president of the Daviess Community Hospital board, said, according to the publication.
“She has done a lot of good. She has had a good and long tenure. She is the longest serving CEO we have had for a while, at least during my tenure on the board.”
However, Ms. Conroy’s resignation was requested by the hospital’s board, according to the Times Herald. The departure comes as the board seeks a “fresh set of eyes on our hospital and the state of our healthcare,” Mr. Steiner added.
Ms. Conroy joined the hospital in 2017 after it signed a management deal with Indianapolis-based Ascension St. Vincent, part of St. Louis-based Ascension.
Daviess Community Hospital is a 74-bed facility that also operates medical clinics in Loogootee, Odon and Washington, Ind., including a walk-in Quick Care Clinic, according to its website.
Prior to joining Daviess, Ms. Conroy served as director of operations for Tri-State Community Clinics in Evansville, Ind.
Daviess is now preparing to look for its next leader.
“St. Vincent has a vice-president who heads their eight rural hospitals,” Mr. Steiner said, according to the Times Herald. “If we cannot get the CEO seat filled in the next 60 days, she will take over the job until we find that person.”
The Times Herald reached out to Ms. Conroy but no response was received as of Oct. 28. Becker’s has reached out to the hospital and will update the story if more information becomes available.
