Huron Medical Center appoints 4th CEO since January 2017: 5 things to know

Bad Axe, Mich.-based Huron Medical Center selected Michael Johnston to serve as president and CEO, effective March 5, according to a Huron Daily Tribune report.

Here are five things to know:

1. Mr. Johnston most recently served as vice president of corporate operations at Charlotte, N.C.-based Carolinas Healthcare System, now known as Atrium Health.

2. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Press Ganey Process and Performance Improvement Advisory Group.

3. He succeeds interim President and CEO Matt Rick, who has served in the role for three months.

4. Mr. Johnston is the fourth CEO to lead Huron Medical Center since the beginning of January 2017.

5. Mr. Johnston is taking over just a few months after Huron Medical Center’s board of trustees said the hospital will exclusively pursue a letter of intent to integrate with Grand Blanc, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care.
