Healthcare Industry Sees Highest CEO Turnover Rate

January 2011 marks the highest monthly total of CEO turnovers since May 2010, with the healthcare industry leading with the most departures, according to a Challenger, Gray & Christmas news release.

In January, there were 123 CEOs who left their positions from all industries together, up from the 83 departures recorded in December 2011 and the 96 departures recorded in January 2011.

Healthcare had the highest CEO turnover last month with 25 CEO departures, up from nine a year ago. Healthcare organizations also saw the highest CEO turnover among all sectors all of last year, as 187 CEOs left their posts — an average of nearly 16 per month.
