Maury Baker has returned to HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital in Charleston, S.C., as its new CEO.
Mr. Baker returned to Summerville Hospital after previously serving as COO from December 2022 through October 2024, according to an Aug. 3 hospital news release shared with Becker’s. He joined Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare in 2019 and most recently served as COO of HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital in North Charleston, S.C.
Mr. Baker assumed the role as Summerville Hospital continues a multiyear expansion effort. Over the past decade, the hospital has invested more than $300 million in facility and service expansions, including a $67 million inpatient tower expansion that increased licensed beds by 40% to 174 private beds, a $24 million emergency department expansion and a freestanding emergency department in scheduled to open in spring 2027.
