HCA’s Richard Bracken to Retire as CEO

Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America announced that its Chairman and CEO Richard M. Bracken will retire from the role of CEO but will remain chairman of the HCA board.

R. Milton Johnson, president and CFO of HCA will take over as CEO. The transition will occur at the end of the year.

Mr. Bracken was named chairman of the board and CEO of HCA in 2009. In fiscal year 2012, his total compensation exceeded $46.3 million, which is one of the highest, single-year compensation amounts ever earned by a for-profit hospital executive.
