HCA Houston Healthcare hospital names chief medical officer

HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake has named Musaddiq Waheed, MD, chief medical officer.

Dr. Waheed brings more than 20 years of clinical and physician leadership experience to the Webster, Texas-based hospital, according to a July 10 news release shared with Becker’s.

Dr. Waheed succeeds Nathan Deal, MD, who was named chief medical officer of HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake and HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland in 2023.

Dr. Waheed most recently served as CMO at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast, where he led initiatives that reduced length of stay, improved emergency department throughput and drove gains in clinical quality metrics, including sepsis compliance, stroke response times and reductions in hospital-acquired infections.

In his new role, Dr. Waheed will focus on strengthening clinical excellence, improving patient safety and quality of care, and supporting the hospital’s graduate medical education programs, the release said.
