Harnett Health System CEO Ken Bryan resigns

Lillington, N.C.-based Harnett Health System has announced the resignation of its CEO, Ken Bryan, according to an article in The Fayetteville Observer.

Mr. Bryan announced his resignation in a letter to employees on Oct. 24, who were told in an email to expect layoffs through the end of the day. The number of employees the health system let go has not yet been specified.

According to the article, tax forms show the system losing more than $24 million for the year that ended in September 2013. Additionally, Cape Fear Valley Health System, located in Fayetteville, N.C., has reportedly been considering taking over management of Harnett Health System. The Cape Fear Valley board of trustees is scheduled to meet on Wednesday.
