Dr. Cheryl Willman tapped to lead Mayo Clinic cancer programs

Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic has chosen Cheryl Willman, MD, as executive director of cancer programs and director of Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, the health system said May 17.

Dr. Willman has served as director and CEO of University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center in Albuquerque for two decades. 

At Mayo Clinic, she will lead the expansion and strategic development of Arizona, Florida and Minnesota cancer center sites, the health system said. She will also focus on the newly developing Mayo Clinic global cancer programs in London and in the United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Willman is a physician-scientist with research focused on genomic, next-generation genome sequencing and computational technologies.
