Dignity Health names new medical director of Arizona hospital ER: 3 things to know

San Francisco-based Dignity Health has named Norris A. Baldwin, Jr., DO, the facility medical director of the new Arizona General Hospital freestanding emergency room in Gilbert, Ariz.

Here are three things to know about Dr. Baldwin.

1. In his position, Dr. Baldwin will lead the new emergency room, opening this month. The new facility is licensed under Arizona General Hospital, which opened earlier this year in Laveen. The emergency room will be a full-service emergency room, licensed by the state, and open 24-7. The new facility will be staffed by board-certified physicians, emergency trained registered nurses and radiology technologists. The new emergency room will also have full access to Dignity Health's network of physicians and specialists. Additionally,it will be equipped with a full radiology suite and an accredited laboratory.

2. Dr. Baldwin received his undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in Tempe and his medical degree from Midwestern University–Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale. He completed his emergency medicine residency at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Grandview Hospital in Dayton.

3. He is board-certified in emergency medicine and has more than eight years practicing emergency medicine.
