Although New England Baptist Hospital has escaped major job and service cuts since 2003, CEO Patricia L. Hannon warns that that the hospital may have to “contract” in some areas, according to a report by the Boston Globe.
The 140-bed hospital logged a surplus of less than 2.5 percent in patient care revenue in fiscal 2009 but Ms. Hannon, who became CEO last November, said it needs to be at least 4 percent.
“This means that we may grow in some areas even as we contract in others,” she wrote in an e-mail to employees.
