Denver Health picks finalist for CEO position: 6 things to know

Denver Health’s board of directors selected Robin Wittenstein as the finalist for the CEO role.

Here are six things to know:

1. Ms. Wittenstein currently serves as an executive leader at Hershey, Pa.-based Penn State Health, a network of clinical and academic affiliate hospitals across central Pennsylvania.

2. Previously, she was president and CEO of Newark-based University Hospital/University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

3. Ms. Wittenstein takes the reins from interim CEO Bill Burman, MD, who has served in the role since July 2016.

4. In June 2016, Arthur Gonzalez, then CEO of the health system, announced he was stepping down. This decision came in the midst of major health system initiatives, such as the implementation of a $175 million Epic EHR. His decision to resign was personal.

5. Ms. Wittenstein holds a doctorate in education from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

6. The Denver Health board selected Ms. Wittenstein after whittling down a list of 20 prospective candidates.
