Rachel Stanley, MD, has been named physician in chief at Connecticut Children’s in Hartford. She will also serve as chair of the department of pediatrics at UConn School of Medicine, according to a Jan. 21 news release.
She will join the institutions in July from Columbus-based Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where she currently serves as division chef of emergency medicine.
At Nationwide Children’s, Dr. Stanley oversaw one of the largest pediatric emergency divisions in the country and helped grow its research infrastructure, secure federal research funding and expand training pathways for future physician-scientists.
In her new role, Dr. Stanley will focus on expanding pediatric clinical trials, strengthening the research faculty workforce, building clinical programs and expanding residency and fellowship training programs.
“I am honored and excited to join Connecticut Children’s and UConn School of Medicine,” Dr. Stanley said in a news release. “My vision is to build a department that integrates clinical excellence, education, and research to improve outcomes for children — regardless of their zip code. Connecticut Children’s has a powerful trajectory, and I’m energized by the opportunity to help expand its national reputation and impact.”
