Children’s Minnesota taps Fairview exec as chief medical officer

Children’s Minnesota has named Sameer Gupta, MD, as executive vice president and chief medical officer, according to a May 27 news release. 

Dr. Gupta — who recently served as vice president of medical affairs at M Health Fairview-University of Minnesota Medical Center and Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis — will assume the new role Aug. 1. He also previously served as executive medical director and chief medical officer at Fairview’s children’s hospital. 

With more than a decade’s worth of experience in senior leadership at large, complex academic medical centers, Dr. Gupta will provide clinical leadership and oversight, advance quality and safety, and strengthen clinician engagement across Children’s Minnesota, the release said. 

Children’s Minnesota is one of the largest pediatric health systems in the U.S., with two hospitals, nine primary care clinics, eight specialty care and seven rehabilitation sites throughout the Twin Cities metro area, according to the organization’s website.
