David McQuaid will continue his current role as COO and assume the title of president as well, effective July 1. Mr. McQuaid has served as executive vice president and COO since 2007. Previously, he served as CEO of Durham (N.C.) Regional Hospital — part of the Duke University Health System — and executive VP and COO of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore.
Mr. Lewis was named president in 1990. “Tom’s true impact can be felt daily walking the halls of our hospitals,” William A. Landman, chairman of the board of Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, said in the release. “His leadership, knowledge and experience will be missed, but we are pleased that he leaves the hospital in good hands.”
